The MSU Block Party Featured RJ Mitte of Breaking Bad to deliver the “Last Lecture”. It was the highlight of the entire party, since most of the outdoor festivities were rained out. Attendees to the Last Lecture were treated with breaking bad themed foods, which were essentially just cookies, cupcakes, pizza, burgers or chicken fingers.
It was a huge event; all of burridge gym was rented out for this event. Organizers and volunteers were dressed in HAZMAT “cooking” suits, keeping with the theme.

Our outgoing president Teddy gave the welcoming address and introduced RJ Mitte onstage. Like in the show, he also suffers from a milder form of CP. Most of his talk centered around the struggles of living with CP and how he overcame them. It was ironic that the 22yr old was doling out career advice to us, when he was so young himself.
The man of the hour
2 facilitators came up afterwards to handle the Q and A, which was executed poorly – none of the questions were related to his experiences on set of Breaking Bad, which was the only thing I was interested in. They basically just shot out a list of questions. The audience didn’t even get a chance to voice their questions… Some Q&A huh.
That’s not to say I didn’t appreciate this event – it was great seeing RJ come down and talk to us. The food was also decent, and after the lecture, there were plenty of leftovers for everyone to take.
This was the leftover food – there was actually so much leftover. The result was chaos – people grabbed handfuls of pizza, burgers, cookies etc. Some were, cleverly, using empty pizza boxes and filing them up with dozens of cupcakes.
