Don’t sell yourself short McMaster

For those of you who visit DBAC frequently, I’m sure you walk past this signage every time.

TD is really promoting hard to our campus this term and trying to sign on new clients. Recently, they even bought several dozen boxes of pizza and handed them out in the student center. The main attention-grabbing aspect is the free $75 for students that do sign up.

Let me explain why this is a terrible deal. As I have said previously, banks and credit cards are now offering clients more and more money to sign on.

The minimum rate you should accept for any new financial services that takes a hit on your score is $200.

TD, for the past several summers, were offering a brand new Samsung galaxy tab 3 for new clients! This is valued around $200 – 250 should you decide to sell on Kijiji. CIBC offered a staggering $400 cash, BMO has been offering $300 and Tangerine offers around $150.

Here is a picture I pulled from vitajulz.com, where the owner received her tab from TD. You can google “TD Samsung promo” and find thousands of happy clients getting their free tabs on redflagdeals or other forums.

All these promotions, including TD’s own tab promo, outweigh the measly $75. Don’t sell yourself short and sign on for a crap bonus.

Basically my message is: TD is trying to swindle students with this promotion and you are better off waiting until the summertime or when they run an official promotion valued >$200.
