Biggest Haul! : Free Wraps and Others

BSB thing

I noticed flyers for a science symposium sometime around noon. I had an exam that morning, so when it finished I went by to check it out. The actual event was held in a large lecture hall, and tables were set up outside where all the food was placed. Since it was deep into the event, the food table was unattended. It was mostly leftovers, a few treats, some sandwiches but lots of granola bars and yogurt cups. I filled up around 15 granola bars and took a coffee to go. Not bad!

This is what I refer to as the goldmine. I had excellent experience with this event last term. For whatever reason, our school does a poor job of advertising that they are providing free wraps to students. The result is too much leftovers.

I got there right when the event starts – there was a lineup of about 50 students. Each takes 2 wraps and some fruits and promptly leaves. I grabbed my first serving and hung around the back to eat. After the first rush, the people coming in for the free wraps stalled – to the point the organizers were getting worried what they were going to do with all the leftovers (they didn’t need to worry ;)). For the next hour or so, my roommate and I went up every 5 min to grab wraps, while studying and eating. I managed to completely fill my bag with wrap before calling it quits. As you can see from the pictures, there were still about 200 wraps leftover. I asked what they did with the leftovers and they told me it is usually given away to school administrators and faculty at the end.

I froze most of them and simply ate wraps for the rest of the month.

Since I was already in the building that also served up free cookies and tea, I went by and grabbed some more, despite my backpack being filled to its limit with wraps.

haul

This is by far the biggest and best haul we have ever taken. In total, I ate 3.5 wraps there and took home 26.5 wraps. My roommate ate 6 there and took home 16. Keep in mind these wrap are quite big, and are sold at the restaurant for $5 easy. We had 52 wraps together; at $4 (being conservative) our haul was easily over $200.
