Let’s see, for the month of June I moved out to Toronto for a summer job. Given the time constraint from job offer to start date, it was a struggle to find a cheap living arrangement. I opted for a slightly expensive, but upscale condo. Breaking down my cash flow:

– My rent is the #1 culprit, taking over 60% of all expenses.

– Transportation is another area for improvement. My office relocated for 2 weeks to another location so I had to rely on public transportation. That ate up 10% of my expenses. Normally I would bike to work, the 5 km uphill ride was quite the challenge.

– I decided to get my firearms licences a few months back, and they just processed my application fee

– I do spend a lot on clothes, that is my only vice. But I never pay full retail price on the goods – increasing the purchasing power of my $. I bought a pair of Maison Martin Margiela x HM on Kijiji for $90, it was barely worn and original price was $180

– Everything else is pretty good. My entertainment costs were down since I spent all my free time studying for the MCAT. I never eat fast food and I try to keep a high protein diet – which is pretty good for $125
